Practice Description: If you want to go beyond the surface… If coping skills aren't enough… If your intensity exhausts your friends or family or you… If you think therapy could be a good idea… If you’re curious… I hope you’ll consider my practice. I think of my patients' investement in their work and how they find it useful. They enlarge their own courage and stamina. They feel increasingly strong, creative, and resourceful, and their lives become both easier and more fulfilling. Their commitments of time and self and resources feel worth it. We find our way together in a relationship that is both real and sustaining.

Being with people in the context of loss can highlight what matters. It could be our relationships, what we make of our lives, or what helps us make sense of the world. For ten years I provided both counseling and support to patients and their loved ones as a chaplain in hospice. I bring deep knowing and empathy to the experience of grief and mourning.

Endings are part of life. Letting go of dependence, perfection, magical thinking, shame, life-sucking attachments. Ends of jobs, marriages, careers, dreams … life as you’ve known it. Trauma, and adjacent realities of depression, suicidal thoughts, and anxiety. I’d like to try to understand your experience and help find a way toward life and new beginnings.
