| Practice Description: |
I provide psychotherapy to children, adolescents and young adults to address a range of issues such as anxiety, coping with life stressors, developing social skills, improving self-esteem, and building healthy relationships. My approach incorporates techniques drawn from CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) in which individuals learn to apply more positive thoughts and beliefs to their lives. With compassion and warmth, I help clients become more aware of their emotions and use more adaptive coping skills. When working with children and teens, I partner with parents and schools to develop attainable goals and to take practical steps to improve one's social-emotional experience.
In addition, I conduct neuropsychological and comprehensive psychoeducational evaluations for children and adolescents. The decision to have a child or adolescent evaluated is typically made when parents or school teachers have persistent questions about a child’s learning or behavior. Evaluations can provide information about an individual’s personal learning and behavioral profile, which in turn guides the development of a plan that is tailored to the child or adolescent’s unique pattern of strengths and weaknesses. When warranted, diagnosis of conditions such as ADHD, learning disabilities, anxiety and other emotional disorders may be rendered. I work in conjunction with schools and parents to create an action plan that highlights individual strengths.
