Practice Description: I am a bilingual (Spanish & English) Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT53725) in San Dimas. For over 10 years I have provided counseling to adults, couples, families, children, adolescents, and young adults with mental health related difficulties. I also have over 19 years of experience working with children, adolescents, young adults, and families mostly in the public/private special education/educational system, juvenile justice system, as well as foster care system. While working within the education system I provided in-school counseling sessions, as well as worked as a special education, general education and magnet program school teacher. This experience has given me an ability to better understand the various struggles school age youth may face, as well as the difficulties such struggles may pose for a youth’s parents/families. Lastly I have extensive experience and training assisting clients with the following difficulties; co-parenting, parenting, and high conflict custody disputes.

My services use various treatment types such as cognitive behavior therapy, play/art therapy, Family Systems, and the evidenced based practices (EBP's) Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy/TF-CBT, Seeking Safety, as well as the Triple-P Positive Parenting Program. When clinically appropriate, I also incorporate one’s spiritual/religious beliefs. I have found that doing so can empower/strengthen an individual, ultimately increasing the likelihood that they will be able to manage, and overcome their mental health related difficulties.

My work experience, and formal education/training have given me an ability to provide services that can quickly build a healthy, trusting, and safe therapeutic relationship with clients. I believe this relationship is essential for a therapist to help one move towards managing, and overcoming their various mental health related difficulties, ultimately giving them the chance to realize their true potential.

Additional Comments: I always say that making the decision to go to therapy is one of the bravest and most courageous choices one can make. It can be a difficult decision to make, especially if you have never been in therapy, yet such a decision can ultimately "pay off" by signifying the beginning of your journey towards managing, as well as overcoming those difficulties that have been interfering with your meeting life's goals. If you are considering therapy, yet unsure about making that decision to start, I would encourage you to attend a few sessions to see how it works for you. I also offer free 30-35 minute face to face/in office consultations which is another great way to see if therapy with me is something you're interested in. I have worked with many clients that have never been in therapy, and have various preconceived ideas about how therapy works. I find that most often, after a few sessions, these clients quickly discover how beneficial therapy can be, and they soon look forward to their therapy sessions. Therapy with me also can be ended at any time, and it is a confidential treatment that no one has to know about.
