Practice Description: Counseling with me is founded on a respectful, warm relationship that values your lived experience, values, identities, and autonomy. We will honor your complexity, including your "parts" and inner child(ren). I trust that you are the expert on yourself and what you need--and if you doubt that, that's okay! We will begin wherever you are.

Even in virtual counseling, we will be able to go beyond talk therapy to incorporate creative arts and embodied options for healing, which keeps therapy interesting and also makes it more effective.

A favorite creative technique for many clients is virtual sandtray, which helps people recognize things they "didn't know they knew," which are often sources of guidance and hope. We can also create virtual collages, spontaneous poetry (no skills or rhymes needed!), and doodles to help you explore and express your inner world. We can draw on your way of seeing life to help you discover your authentic path to healing and living your best life.

Another aspect of therapy with me that helps many clients is incorporating tailored mind-body techniques. This includes personalized "tapping" (Emotional Freedom Techniques) which supports processing difficult experiences gently and deeply. I love EFT because it's a powerful coping and healing tool you can learn to use on your own between sessions, and that you'll continue to have after therapy is done. We can also help you explore forms of meditation or other mindfulness techniques that suit your personality and needs, which can help guide your brain to new, helpful ways of relating to yourself and the world.

This is an important step in your healing journey. I know it is hard to reach out to a new counselor. If you'd like, schedule a consultation or reach out--let's help you make a choice that is right for you.

My special area of focus is college students and emerging adults, particularly those who are healing from family-of-origin trauma. I have 14 years' experience working with college students, including 4 years in a college counseling center at a major university, 5 years in college career counseling, and 8+ years in crisis response in on- and off-campus settings.
