Life has a way of bringing things to us we don't want to experience and we'd rather avoid...painful things. At some point, all of us go through something that feels really badly, such as, a broken relationship, a job lay-off, a cancer diagnosis, the loss of a someone or something we love very much, a Young Adult son or daughter making a mess of their life, a car accident or some other catastrophic event, or some senseless act of violence. No one is exempt or gets a free pass when it comes to eventually experiencing pain. It's part of being human.
Even if we normally have some good coping skills, occasionally life is stressful enough that those skills no longer work. Then it's easy to turn to unhealthy ways of dealing with pain, which only create more problems in the long run. And sometimes one starts feeling grief, anxiety, depression or anger, which can interfere with a job, parenting, a significant relationship, or even one's health.
Does any of this sound like something you are going through?
If you are experiencing emotional turmoil, stress that is beyond your coping skills, facing a difficult life transition, trying to deal with something that has knocked you down, or you are coping in unhealthy ways, then now is a good time to seek some counseling. It's actually a sign of strength and wisdom to reach out for some help when you need it.
Over the past 29 years, these are the kinds of issues I've helped others with, and I would love to help you to: (1.) Gain greater control over your own life; (2.) Learn new and healthier coping skills to manage stress and anxiety; (3.) Process through a trauma so it no long feels overwhelming; (4.) Develop Self-Compassion and greater resiliency; and (5.) Find hope, strength and direction for the future.
I am licensed in Illinois and Arizona, so I offer online, secure video conferencing to anyone in either state. I also offer in-person sessions for anyone living in the Mesa, Gilbert, Tempe, or Chandler areas.
