Practice Description: |
My approach is based on primarily using techniques that have been shown to be effective and long lasting. That said, I believe that the relationship between therapist and client is an essential part of the process. I believe in creating a safe, supportive, compassionate environment for individuals, couples, and families to move through the process of counseling. Some of the proven techniques I incorporate into the counseling session include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (for trauma), and The Gottman Method (for couples). I have extensive experience working with sexual abuse/trauma, domestic violence, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, addictions, self-injury, eating disorders and personality disorders. Prior to working in private practice, I provided counseling at a domestic violence/sexual assault center for 7 years, and worked for over 4 years in the outpatient hospital setting with a wide range of mental health issues. I have extensive experience working with ages 10 and up. I also have a Level I Certification in the Gottman Method for couples counseling.
