Profession: Psychologist
Services: Psychotherapy/Counseling
Practice Description: Many people seek therapy to determine what can change vs what must be managed in life. This often involves improving stress management, exploring the strength of relationships, developing career direction, increasing effective coping and decision making skills, and expressing feelings.

My training and services are informed by psychodynamic, relational, and cognitive theories. I have found that this is the most effective approach to help clients reach very individualized goals. I have a doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology, and typically pursue a variety of continuing education activities annually to keep my skills, knowledge base and approaches fresh.

Initially, we will discuss the issues that bring you to counseling. Through this process we will identify what works well in your life - what you hold most precious or wish to achieve - as well as circumstances in which you would like more control. The psychotherapy process is dynamic, however, and your goals may change as your counseling proceeds. I will act as a guide or "navigator" -- point out options or decisions that you have - but you will make the decisions about your life. Together we will make decisions about the direction, frequency and pace of counseling.

Given my training as a generalist and work in university counseling centers, a forensic agency, and hospital I have wide experience working with many cultures, identities, employment and career backgrounds, socio-economic status, emotional and psychological issues. You and I will create your psychotherapy process together, periodically reviewing what works and what is not helpful.

Insurance and Billing Instructions: Before we meet, we can discuss how you will pay for treatment. This typically includes discussing your treatment goals, budget, and insurance coverage.

You have the most control if you self-pay for treatment. But I support your use of insurance. If you have BCBS or Blue Choice PPO, I will submit claims for you. With other PPO insurance policies, I will provide a completed claim form to you at month end that you can send to your insurer for reimbursement. This gives you the most control over your privacy.

I currently am in-network for BCBS/PPO and Blue Choice. If you have this insurance and choose to use it, I will ask you to pay me the copay/coinsurance and bill for you

The monthly statement I provide can be submitted by clients insurers, HSA/FSA accounts, or for income tax documentation. I do all billing myself to maximize client privacy.

I am not "in-network" with Medicare, Medicaid and Tricare or any HMO policies; these insurers typically will not reimburse for your work with me.
