Profession: Marriage and Family Therapist
Services: Psychotherapy/Counseling
Practice Description: When we suffer from feelings related to grief or loss, from unsatisfying relationships in the past or present, or from wishing to have more joy in our lives---therapy can be a powerful step toward healing and relief. Having a safe place and a compassionate person with whom to share our grief, our critical or frightening thoughts, and our longings can help enormously. I work in a relational, supportive, and collaborative way to help people move from anxiety, trauma, depression and problems with relationships to a place of increased trust, safety, and satisfaction.

Therapy is a way to deepen understanding and self-acceptance. I help people explore the feelings and patterns in their past and present experience, the images and metaphors that arise in waking or sleeping using a variety of methods acquired from my training in psychodynamic, humanistic, and existential theories. We work together to make meaning of what is both difficult and easy in your life, and to hold it all that in a way that makes room for new experiences and choices. Accepting our human-ness is a challenging, liberating, and lovely part of this work.

My practice serves adults and adolescents who want to feel greater energy and joy for living, want to improve their relationships, and want help dealing with/exploring difficult feelings. I am a practicing meditator and mindfulness teacher, and have experience integrating mindfulness practices and Buddhist psychology into therapeutic work with interested patients. I have extensive knowledge of family issues including grief and loss, relationship/communication, post-partum, parenting, puberty/adolescent challenges. I have worked extensively with teens and adults who want help to stop using self-destructive thinking and behavior, and begin practicing more affirming ways of being with themselves and others in the world.

Accepted Insurance: Any PPO (with Out-of-Network Benefits)
Many PPOs will reimburse for session with an "out of network provider."
Please call for further information.
Insurance and Billing Instructions: I do not accept insurance directly for payment, however if you have a PPO health plan, your company may reimburse a percentage of what you have already paid. Please contact your health care provider to see if they reimburse for services rendered by an "out-of-network Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist." I can provide you with a monthly statement that you can then submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. It is important to know that most insurance carriers require a mental health disorder to qualify for coverage and reimbursement.

Please check your coverage carefully by asking the following questions:
• What are my mental health benefits?
• What is the coverage amount/percentage per therapy session?
• How many therapy sessions does my plan cover per calendar year?
• How much does my insurance pay for an out-of-network provider?

Your insurance company representative may want to know the CPT code. The CPT codes are 90834 for a 50-minute individual psychotherapy session, and 90837 for a 75-minute individual psychotherapy session. The CPT code for conjoint couples/family psychotherapy is 90847.
