Practice Description: |
Clients come to see me for a variety of problems including relationship problems, anxiety, depression, trauma, anger, life transitions, and parenting in intact marriages as well as post-divorce. Although I use evidence-based therapeutic techniques such as cognitive-behavior therapy, attachment-based therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and elements of DBT and mindfulness, what I find to be really important is forming an authentic and empathetic relationship where you will feel both safe and challenged to make changes that will bring you a healthier and more stable life.
My office is a place where you can talk openly and you will not be judged or rejected. I strive to be supportive, empathetic, thought-provoking, honest, and sometimes humorous. In the first several sessions, we will talk about what brings you to therapy, gain an understanding of your life’s story, and work together to figure out your goals and what tools we will use in therapy to help you reach those goals. I will help you gain an understanding of your unique characteristics and patterns—to appreciate your strengths and find the motivation and skills to change unhealthy patterns to healthy patterns. Ultimately, I want you to learn tools that you can use for the rest of your life so that you become your own therapist and successfully cope with challenges that you are facing today as well as in the future.
