Practice Description:
Hello, All,

I am currently 'seeing' all patients on phone or video sessions. Please don't hesitate to call or email me if you need someone to talk with at this very uncertain time. Warmly, Lynn

As you undoubtedly realize, uncertainty has become our constant companion since March 2020 and with no precise end in sight. The Corona virus insures that we feel both tense and frustrated. It's like wearing a second mask, only this one is usually invisible. Our new normal --- of working from home, of living closely with others or isolated from loved ones, with no rest from parenting responsibilities, and painfully reduced social interactions --- adds to our secretive fears and increases anxious and depressed feelings. Anxiety or that internal sense of unrest that you previously suppressed may now have become less tolerable under our current reality.

I work with anxious people. Maybe you're feeling angry, confused or sad and wonder why and no longer want to feel controlled by unruly emotions that spoil your whole day. COVID makes things worse. I especially like to work with people who can allow themselves to be curious and are willing to believe that "'talking" can make a difference ... that life can be changed by a slight tilt of your current lens to reveal new external and internal views. I believe talking and understanding can help resolve numerous troubling problems that interfere with your creative aspirations, growth, and potential.

I also help people who pull their hair or experience some other troubling bodily-related behavior. Perhaps you've realized that your 'will' alone can't overcome this compelling demand. Trichotillomania, for example is a secretive, stubborn and embarrassing symptom that I have seen respond to psychodynamic therapy and psychoanalysis. For individuals with determination, commitment, and curiosity, psychoanalysis may increase your self awareness, make sense of troubling behaviours, and be a transformative experience.
