Practice Description: |
Most of us experience difficult, challenging emotions that can affect our functioning, our decisions, and definitely our quality of life. How can you experience those emotions in a way that is respectful of them, and sometimes informed by them, but not controlled by them? How to do mobilize when you are feeling immobilized by them? How to do respond, rather than just react, to the experiences of powerful emotions? Learning how to have a respectful, productive relationship the full range of our emotions is critical to living a rich, meaningful and enjoyable life.
People come to therapy looking for solutions to real-world problems. My therapeutic approach is interactive, strength-based and practical. Using empathy, humor, and an objective perspective, I will collaborate with you to develop an effective, down-to-earth approach to your current life challenges, as well as long-standing personal concerns that you may have. My job is to assist you in using your own self-knowledge to draw on your unique strengths and personal resources to respond to your challenges. We'll work together to put problems into a workable perspective and to create a realistic plan for addressing those problems.
Using this approach, I have successfully helped adults, college students and high school students with anxiety, depression, stress management, relationship issues, and career/academic concerns. I have expertise in ADHD in adolescents and adults, and can assist with addressing career challenges or academic planning to manage problems with executive functioning.
