Practice Description: |
I practice in a way that is not strictly "looking backwards." That's to say, traditional therapy makes the past a kind of religion and deconstructs and endlessly analyzes as an end-game.
But I've found that real growth and the true benefit of psychotherapy doesn't come from obsessing on what went wrong, but from using the past as a way to shape the energy of the present. So your past becomes a tool that we'll use to help us change the quality of your everyday life.
How did I come to this? In short, when I was in my twenties, I had one therapist who didn't say anything, and then another who talked, alas! The second one truly helped me at a time of my life when I needed it, and taught me for later, when I became a psychotherapist, that changing my patients' lives comes from a real partnership.
I can speak more to this by phone and would love to hear what is going on in your life. If this is of interest, get it touch.
