Practice Description: |
For over 30 years, I've served the Bay Area as a psychologist, teacher, artist, and author. I provide in-depth adult psychotherapy using creative, cognitive, and transpersonal methods - treating professionals, interns, graduate students, artists, and veterans. I encourage patient healing through active visualization, body/mind/spiritual connection, transpersonal psychology, Sandplay, creative expression, and dream work. Since 1998 I have used EMDR to treat performance anxiety, phobias, eating disorders, and trauma due to divorce, surgeries, accidents, job loss, and abuse. For a 2014 interview with Dr. Jean Schellenberg on opentohope.com (YouTube/Open to Hope), Episode 32: Treating Trauma (EMDR), see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HPiCU6SpuSA.
I specialize in trauma and developed a 5-Stage Recovery Model to heal emotional, physical, and sexual abuse. The Model also addresses healthier adult sexuality and intimacy. In 1998, the APA gave me an honorary award for this dissertation research, and I have presented to various clinicians and graduate schools.
My art work is featured in: Heal Abuse and Trauma through Art: Increasing Self-worth, Healing of Initial Wounds, and Creating a Sense of Connectivity, L.B. Spencer, Ph.D.; and Transformation of the Psyche: The Symbolic Alchemy of the Splendor Solis, by Drs. Joseph Henderson and Dyane Sherwood.
