Practice Description: |
For over 20 years, I have provided focused, effective treatment for individuals dealing with depression, anxiety and trauma. My experience has taught me that one of the factors that is most vital in helping people is the sense you get that you are not only accepted, but respected and treated as an equal in the therapeutic relationship. It is the relationship with the therapist which fosters change. I have a warm personality and people typically feel comfortable with me from the start.
True change in therapy goes beyond providing insights as the patterns that keep us stuck are rooted in our emotions and deeply engrained negative beliefs about ourselves and the world. I believe that it is only through working through these emotions and challenging these negative beliefs that healing can occur.
I will listen very attentively to your emotions, conflicts, yearnings, and perceptions. I reflect back to you what I observe in a way which provides you with a much clearer picture of what has left you dissatisfied with life and which leads you to feel more empowered. Greater personal fulfillment and sense of connection with others is the ultimate goal.
As a Couples' Therapist, I use a form of couples therapy, Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT), which has been researched to be the most highly effective form of couples' therapy. My work with individual clients is also informed by this model. I have had a great deal of success using EFT with couples and individuals. EFT It is such an effective model of therapy because it teaches couples to be emotionally attuned, open, and responsive to each other. EFT is also very powerful in helping individuals become more aware of their feelings and needs in relationships and in other areas of their lives.
