Practice Description: If you are struggling with life's challenges and are seeking tools to better cope with or overcome those challenges I want to help you. The foundation of my work is the collaborative and proven effective tools of Cognitive and Behavioral Therapy. Exploring and understanding our core beliefs and the relationships between thoughts and feelings give us the tools to make effective changes. Making a commitment to changing behaviors helps us sort out what we actually have control over and frees us from expecting others to change in order for us to be happy. This approach is extremely effective with the various forms of anxiety or depression and are helpful in navigating whatever life struggles we are facing.

I specialize in working with couples, with an emphasis on communication skills, understanding the role of temperaments and love languages, forgiveness, and doing the work necessary to nurture the relationship. Love is a commitment not a feeling, but nurturing the relationship helps keep the feeling alive.

While working with clients with diverse beliefs, I also specialize in working with clients who want to work from within their Christian and Catholic beliefs. Helping individuals draw on their spiritual beliefs and resources greatly enhances the therapeutic process and can be a great source of healing.

Many families are facing the challenges of young adults returning to live at home or staying at home after finishing schooling. The transition from having a minor child at home to having a young adult in the house is often a difficult one. I offer concrete guidelines and emphasize establishing working agreements for all those involved.

I have been working in the mental health field for over 25 years and have worked in diverse settings, including mental health group homes, public mental health agencies, psychiatric hospitals, family court, and dual diagnosis programs. In addition to my private practice, I also provide counseling services to students at Thomas Aquinas College.

I have been married for 33 years and have six children and five grandchildren.
