Practice Description: |
First and foremost, I believe that therapy is based on the relationship between a clinician and a client. From our initial meeting, my focus is on developing trust and a meaningful connection in order to effectively address the unique needs of each individual, couple or family I see.
In over thirty years of practice, I have worked with a diverse group of clients struggling with a wide variety of issues. I have extensive experience addressing chemical dependency, co-dependency, incest, eating disorders, GLBT-specific concerns, depression, and anxiety. Additionally, I do couples and family therapy and am skilled at helping clients to modify dysfunctional communication patterns and improve relationships.
I work from a primarily Psychodynamic framework and maintain a focus on family of origin issues. In addition, I have the training and experience to adapt my skills and incorporate a variety of other approaches, including CBT, Task-Centered and Solution-Focused methods, guided imagery, breath work and relaxation techniques.
