Practice Description: Welcome and congratulations on your decision to begin (or renew) your path of recovery from an Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. You are in good hands. Since 1996 I have exclusively worked with Obsessive Compulsive Spectrum Disorders (OC-SPEC) of all types. In those decades I have treated hundreds of people with OCD and trained over a thousand professionals in over 100 cities across the USA. Just as importantly I am in recovery from very serious OCD myself. I know first-hand what a horrific struggle OCD can be. I also know first-hand that it is possible to recover our lives, our serenity and joy in living.

I have been practicing as a licensed clinical psychologist since the early 1980’s and am a member of the National Register of Healthcare Providers. As a member of the American Psychological Association and the Scientific Advisory Board for the Obsessive Compulsive Foundation I specialize in the treatment of Obsessive Compulsive Spectrum Disorders including OCD, Hypochondriasis, Tourette’s Disorder, Hoarding, Trichotillomania, Asperger’s Syndrome, Body Dysmorphic Disorder, and Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder. Having worked for several years as a Registered Naturopath in the District of Columbia I also have a great deal of information on Integrative Healthcare and over-the-counter supplements which may benefit you in your recovery efforts.

In general having OCD is a major crisis in a person's life and a very serious condition to have to deal with – akin to being diagnosed with Parkinson's, Epilepsy, Multiple Sclerosis, or Alzheimer’s Disease! All are neurological disorders which have mental, emotional and behavioral manifestations. Disorders in which the brain (in one way or another) is experiencing a glitch in its circuitry. Because OC-SPEC problem are so serious, if you choose to have me on your team I will be as aggressive with the OCD as I am compassionate and caring with you and your family. Unlike other counselors in this field I have walked the same path you are on and know it’s pain and pitfalls. I do not know if I am the top professional working with OCD, but I can honestly tell you of the hundreds of OCD counselors I have met and trained I am still looking for someone better at this work than myself (I sincerely would love to!) As you know, we have a fight ahead of us against a powerful opponent (OCD), but together you and I are even more formidable! I take this mission seriously and together we will prevail!
