Profession: Clinical Social Worker/Therapist
Services: Psychotherapy/Counseling
Practice Description: I have 40 years of experience doing psychotherapy with individuals and couples. The most important consideration for success in psychotherapy is the Client - Therapist relationship. You should feel emotionally safe with your therapist, but also know this person has things to teach you. You should be able to tell that the therapist is interested in you as a person, has skills and knowledge to guide you, and that this person actually likes you. I work with each client in focusing on keeping our relationship sound, and making the effort to be collaborative while continuing to be the leader in the work as it unfolds.

I have been a therapist for 37 years and love my work with individuals and couples. I've worked with a wide variety of diagnosis and problems. Because I know how important it is to find the right therapist for you, and how expensive that can be, I structure the initial session to help people "shop around" for their new therapist: I set aside a full 60 minutes, and at the half hour mark we pause for the client(s) to decide if they want to stay. If you leave you owe me nothing, if you stay you are responsible for the full hour.

I work with a wide variety of diagnosis in individual therapy and specialize also in couples therapy. With individuals I've had in depth experience with trauma and PTSD, spiritual growth, depression and mood disorders, personality disorders, self esteem problems, commitment problems, and more. I have helped couples with wide variety of issues, including affairs, major decisions, poly-amorous relationships, communication problems, and lack of intimacy, to name a few.

I recommend you to my website for short articles, blog entries and a video of me.

Additional Comments: I have developed a way to combine traditional talk therapy with energy work for those clients who are interested in pursuing this. I am happy to talk with you about how I have found this especially helpful in reaching client goals and what the process is like. I also teach meditation to those interested in using this to change the way their brain deals with stress.
