I see therapy as supporting what goes on naturally in people's lives and I seek to learn how each person sees the world and to understand their unique, natural way of making changes and finding their place in the world. This is the major map used in solving the current problem.
My approach honors and respects the struggle that each person may be going through and I offer empathic understanding to help them sort through the feelings and thoughts in order to find their center again. I also am an advocate for each person's unique set of strengths, creativity, playfulness and wisdom, or their true self. Helping people get back to their true self, which includes providing a place in their lives for vulnerability and tenderness, is a major focus of my approach and a major means of solving problems.
The focus in counseling is the person's specific problem they want solved and their specific goals they want to reach. My approach is very outcome focused and I work to put together a plan that is an extension of their natural way of solving problems and customized to solve the problem at hand.
