| Practice Description: |
Relationship issues begin when we are very young. Each of us adapts to what we perceive, know, and feel. These adaptive beliefs and behaviors continue throughout our lives and can and do affect how we enter into and sustain relationships. We reach points in our lives when we instinctively know that we need to make changes. The need for these changes brings with them fear of the needed change--it takes courage and builds insight. Through every door of change comes great gifts.
Adolescents in particular morph into individuals and away from parental advice. This can be an extremely chaotic time for families--a time when relationships are tested and twisted. But, it is also a fertile time for your adolescent to learn how to build working and healthy relationships that shape the rest of his/her life. Each of us perceives how others feel about us and how we are valued. That becomes what we know and feel about ourselves; consequently, this affects all that we do and how we react in relationship.
My practice provides counseling for issues surrounding core injuries that manifest themselves in sexual compulsivity/addiction, relationship issues, depression, adolescent issues, and non-productive behaviors. My passion is working with women, men, and adolescents in understanding and modifying behaviors which lead us to feel that we are becoming lost in relationships. Additionally, I specialize in working with parents of gay and lesbian children and gay and lesbian issues. I am also experienced in working with adolescent and childhood grief.
I believe that each of us possesses strength and dignity that can be called upon and utilized for collaborative healing and positive change.
