| Practice Description: |
BACKGROUND INFORMATION Greg is focused on providing psychotherapy to couples and individuals in Chicago, Evanston & Skokie since 1996. His professional experience is grounded in helping others cope with depression, anxiety, trauma, and relationship issues. Dr. Crisenbery received his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan and a doctorate from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology. In addition, he is certified in EMDR treatment for trauma and anxiety. Working with diverse populations and a wide variety of issues has provided Greg with the experience to communicate with his clients effectively about their concerns. Before entering private practice, he worked at the North Chicago VA Medical Center, Midwest Family Resources, Uhlich Children's Home, First Senior Care, and Hartgrove Hospital. Current seminars that Greg presents include: Increasing Your Emotional Intelligence, Emotional Management, and professional trainings for anger management.
PERSONAL STATEMENT My orientation acknowledges the need to address issues on all levels: physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual. My personal style is typically direct and practical with an element of humor to help maintain perspective. I am conversant with alternative therapies such as diet, nutrition, and meditation.
In a typical therapy session, I attempt to keep a focus on the goals as defined by you, and to insure that you acquire an increased understanding of the issues at hand - not just a temporary solution. I have found that a one-therapy-style-fits-all approach does not help in achieving goals, so I will try to meet you in a manner that increases your comfort level and effectiveness in resolving difficult problems.
After many years of experience helping others to cope with rather intense issues, such as trauma, abuse, sexual issues, and the failure of a relationship, I hope to find a way to help you feel comfortable in discussing any concerns that are affecting your life.
Initially, the focus of my experience as a therapist was on the treatment of trauma. Since then, I have expanded into assisting others in continuing their personal evolution by resolving the difficulties that anxiety, depression, and relationship issues can present. Through it all, I believe that it is possible to continue in our personal growth.
