| Practice Description: |
I am interested in providing a safe place where one can experience their feelings, thoughts, memories and desires. These all impact the way people act, react, and relate to others. Gaining awareness of relationship patterns or beliefs that have led to suffering is an essential step toward the resolution of specific problems. I view problems in the context of the whole person and their environment, and help to find meaning no matter how one expresses their story.
I work collaboratively and encourage people to talk about their thoughts and feelings that come up about therapy. This offers a rich source of understanding and an opening to experience past and present painful feelings. The better I understand what is helpful allows me to stay more mindful of how I can be the best possible therapist for you. Therapy provides an opportunity to discover how one relates to others, to make connections between present and past, and offers the possibility for relating in a new way.

I prefer to have a discussion about the fee during the first visit as opposed to talking on the phone. If we do not come to an agreement that you are comfortable with then you will not be charged for the session and I will offer you lower fee referrals once I understand your needs. In cases of special needs, I am glad to discuss a lower fee that will be affordable to you.

| Insurance and Billing Instructions: |
It is often helpful to be aware of your mental health benefits and I can help you sort out the complexities of your policy. Most plans cover a portion of this service, yet the range varies. These questions may help you to understand your coverage:
1. Do I have mental health insurance benefits? 2. What is the coverage or % amount per therapy session? 3. How many sessions per year does my insurance cover? 4. Is preauthorization required for treatment? 5. Is approval required from my primary care physician? 6. Does my deductible need to be met prior to reimbursement? 7. If a code is needed, therapy is typically billed at 90806 8. If a diagnosis is needed, of course we would have to wait until after we meet unless you have one from previous treatment. |

| Additional Comments: |
The self that functions in the world is only part of a person. Other aspects operate silently in the background which may lead to symptoms or behaviors adding to struggles in one's relationships, work, and physical health. We develop in many ways and still have parts that did not have a chance to grow. It may be hard to bounce back from rejection and to stay in touch with our feelings and needs. We function yet may feel stuck, depressed, angry, afraid, childlike, or like we are going through the motions.
The quest to understand our experiences, make sense of painful events, and self acceptance are all important aspects related to healing. Therapy can lead to more satisfying relationships, less suffering, and a more joyous life. |
