| Practice Description: |
Are you struggling with overwhelming emotions? Are you caught in a trap of depression, eating disorders, self-injury, or anxiety, and unsure how to break free? My approach involves empirically-supported treatments including CBT (cognitive-behavior therapy), DBT (dialectical behavior therapy), and ACT (acceptance and commitment therapy) to help you resolve symptoms, achieve your goals, prevent relapse, and create a more meaningful life.
Parents - are you concerned about your teenager's depression, restrictive eating, weight loss, bingeing, purging, self-injury, or anxiety? Are you eager to help your child, but unsure of how to proceed? You are your child's greatest resource in recovery. My approach to working with adolescents involves parents in each stage of the treatment process, from the initial evaluation to treatment planning to ongoing therapy and relapse prevention. I will empower you to help your child by educating you about your child's condition, including the most recent research on causes and effective treatments. I will provide you with regular updates on your child's progress and assist you as challenges and conflicts arise.
For adolescents with eating disorders, I use the Maudsley Model of Family-Based Treatment, a highly practical, empirically-supported treatment which enlists the entire family as a resource in supporting the patient's recovery.
