Dave's View
In my practice I lean toward a strength based model of psychotherapy employed from a holistic view of humanity and the individual. There are many differing theories providing numerous approaches developed to be utilized in a therapeutic relationship. I don’t believe any one model or theory holds all the answers so I employ several theories in an eclectic approach. I follow the belief that the individual is the expert in their own lives and hold that psychological distress is often caused by conflict between the persons own values, morals, wants, needs, identity, and the world they live in. This conflict is often magnified by the situation they find themselves confronting. When these conflicts are resolved, the individuals view of the world and their life reflects the congruence of their "self". These individuals appear to be able to walk through seemingly unbearable events with grace and ease. This ability to walk through the world whole is available to us all. We only need develop it.

| Additional Comments: |
Much of my practice revolves around men’s personal, mental health, and addiction issues including personal growth with both men and women. Self-esteem, relational skills, substance abuse, parenting, sexual addiction, and stress management are common issues prompting men to seek guidance with a male therapist.
It appears women are as interested in men’s issues as men. Women find the male perspective valuable in defining and working on father, life, and relational issues. Men can be difficult to understand. The male perspective is often helpful in liberating a woman from the traps encountered in modern relationships.
