Practice Description: We will walk together through a journey of self-discovery that will change your life! In the complexity of our modern lives, we can feel as though we have lost touch with something essential and invigorating in ourselves. I see counseling as a natural response to life’s inevitable disappointments and difficulties and as an opportunity to develop a more intimate and fulfilling relationship to self, the home to which we all long to return.

You may be experiencing some symptoms that are concerning you, and you even may have developed a diagnosis for yourself, such as "I am depressed" or "I have low self-esteem". You may have some specific issues or "problems" that you feel prepared to work on, or you might feel somewhat lost about how to get started on a path towards feeling fully alive again. You may feel depleted and find yourself wondering what happened to your resilience.

As a therapist, I provide clients with a straight-forward approach. I provide a warm and discerning presence with which to explore the inner workings of their lives and to identify and address obstacles that prevent them from engaging in life, relationships and work more fully.

Sometimes life may feel too unsafe to learn from or too important to risk. Together with my clients, I am committed to creating a safe, supportive and collaborative relationship from which they can begin, or continue, their life-long journey of self-discovery.

The counseling relationship is unique because the relationship exists in order to help you learn about yourself and to develop deeper contact with your feelings. Unlike your "normal" social relationships, the focus tends to be on your experience and learning. The more honest you can be about what you experience and what you want, the more likely it is that your needs will be addressed. So, it is important that you trust your therapist to accept you as you are (so you can talk about your experience without a lot of censoring). And, it is essential that you find a therapist who you believe has the skills and personal depth to collaborate with you as you journey more deeply into yourself and work towards the changes you want to make. Whether you are seeking counseling for yourself, your relationship or your teenager, you decision to enter into a counseling relationship can empower you to begin healing and personal growth. I look forward to meeting you and beginning this journey!
