I enjoy working with individuals from a Cognitive Behavioral standpoint using Reality Therapy and Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy. Both of these theoretical orientations put an emphasis on the here and now and resolving inner conflicts in order to live a more fulfilling life. I work from the frame of mind that identifies goals and analyzes what is standing in the way of achieving those goals. I will challenge unhealthy constructs and introduce more constructive and self helping attitudes. I believe that the quality of the relationship I have with my clients is essential for therapy to be effective and I encourage individuals to hold nothing back during sessions. I feel that making a plan for change is a key element in therapy and I will always encourage my clients to be in charge of developing that plan. I do not subscribe to the idea of “punishing” individuals for not following through with any aspect of their plan. Instead, I see an opportunity for further exploration. I believe in maintaining a non-judgmental and non-coercive attitude toward all situations. Additionally, I am committed to being supportive through the therapeutic process.
