Substance abuse, depression, anxiety and difficulties surrounding divorce, are some of the most prevalent issues that affect us today. I have a great deal of passion for working with children, adolescents & young adults to deal with current struggles surrounding these areas. I have several years of experience counseling teens with substance abuse issues, as well as offering support to the family unit.
In addition to a counseling degree, I also have a degree in art therapy. This is a great tool in counseling young people. The use of art therapy can be a unique way for children and teens to open up and process areas of strong emotional content.
My style consists of a variety of hands on activities to foster communication, trust, honesty and problem solving skills, which ultimately aid in increased insight and judgment. I believe in focusing on strengths that each individual possess, building upon those strengths. This can be a great source for growth and insight.
Focusing on strengths is also great tool for those young people who struggle with self-esteem issues. I have assisted adolescents and adults in individual and group settings, surrounding a variety of issues. I welcome the opportunity to be a helping hand to you and your family.
