"Although the world is full of suffering, it is also full of the overcoming of it" --Helen Keller
Finding a therapist is a very personal decision. You may be seeking a consultation for yourself or another because of feelings of distress or emotional pain, or simply motivated by a desire for personal growth. Whatever your reasons, psychotherapy can be a helpful way to clarify emotions, explore meaning and gain personal insight. The process of therapy itself can be difficult to understand or confusing for those who have never embarked on it. For others, its helpfulness is unquestionable as their experiences of therapy in the past were already positive and meaningful.
As a clinician I have over 7 years of experience in the area of mental health services. I began as a crisis counselor helping others thru difficult or traumatic experiences and have provided a variety of services over time (long term therapy, group counseling, etc.). Now I engage in private practice part of the time, and currently work as a clinical manager. In this role, I direct the overall treatment offered by other clinicians at a mental health agency in Evanston. It requires that I remain up-to-date with best practice models for treating a wide range of mental health concerns or disorders. I bring this experience and knowledge to bear in my private practice. In addition, I am also honored to be a part of an advisory committee to Evanston Northwestern Healthcare, as well as Chair of a local advocacy organization.
Therapy is a collaborative process and regardless of the length or breath of experience one may have to offer, a good rapport is often more essential. While the final decision on whether and how to access therapy is ultimately yours, an initial consultation can be a helpful way to ask questions and learn about possible options.
Feel free to contact me at the number listed below. I will be glad to speak with you and, if needed, to direct you to someone better suited to meet your needs.
