| Practice Description: |
I offer depth-oriented, analytic therapy from a Jungian perspective with the addition of Cognitive-Behavioral aspects. I believe that "symptoms" such as depression, anxiety, grief & loss, addiction, career and relationship issues and others often present as the "call" from psyche, announcing the beginning of movement to another level of meaning and consciousness. Psychic and emotional upheaval can serve as portals to the next journey of self-discovery which awaits most of us as we progress through life. The depth approach, which usually includes dream work, can help to increase our capacity to host states which may be difficult to bear alone. I view myself as a guide and partner with my patients in holding the space wherein self-discovery and growth can occur. I have facilitated individual, child, couples' and family therapy for over fifteen years. I also sometimes incorporate play therapy, sandplay therapy, and other creative modalities into the work.
My goal is to offer a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space in which emerging issues may be respectfully approached so that patients can begin to develop greater self-awareness and connection with previously unknown aspects and potentials, creating a greater sense of fulfillment and meaning. Life is never static. Psyche is always pressing for greater development and realization of our potential and exacts a price when we attempt to deny or suppress this movement.
