Practice Description: If you are struggling with depression, anxiety or fears, stress, grief and loss (of any origin), trauma, low self-esteem, relationship issues as well as life transition issues I may be the right counselor for you.

Many people find it difficult to deal with their problems all by themselves and although friends and family can be of help, sometimes assistance from an unbiased professional is what makes the difference. It takes courage for us to ask for assistance when we need it despite that we may believe differently.

Many of us go through life without really examining it, often repeating the mistakes of our parents. Many of our challenges come from our habitual minds repeating the same thoughts and messages about ourselves. Oftentimes these thoughts and messages have existed since we were very young and though they may not be necessarily true, we believe what we “acquired” in our youth when we were vulnerable and easily influenced by the adults in our lives. Now that we are adults ourselves, we have the opportunity to examine our lives and decide what is working for us and what is not, thereby creating a more conscious and fulfilling life experience.

My clients perceive me as warm, authentic, caring, and compassionate. I would feel honored to be a part of your personal journey towards healing and growth. I enjoy helping people experience new ways of being, enabling them to relate differently to themselves and others. During our sessions we would explore what is not working in your life and what you would like to change. Also, we would use your strengths to help you through the process of change. You know that you have the necessary resources for change within you, although at times you may doubt it, and my role as a therapist is to use my skills and expertise to create a safe and supportive environment for self-exploration and to assist you in the process of change.

I would like to help you live your life the way you want it. I believe that you will feel in my counseling space respect, a non-judgmental attitude, as well as positive-regard. Therapy is a gift to yourself and the time you use will help you figure out what you want your life to be about and to concentrate on that.

I provide both short-term counseling and long-term psychotherapy. I work with adult clients across the lifespan, with men’s and women’s issues, straight as well as gay and lesbian clients. My therapy style is relational and eclectic thus incorporating techniques from different schools of counseling. These include CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), the person-centered approach, and psychodynamic models. I also use mindfulness to help you bring more awareness to your life.

I am an EMDR trained counselor (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) which is a very effective method to process all kinds of traumas including car accidents, surgeries, complicated grief, etc. Please feel free to read more about this technique at http://emdr.com/q&a.htm.

As a career counselor, I would assist you in professional issues such as preparing for a job interview (through mock interviews), profiling your interests and helping you to choose a new career, helping to prepare your resume and more.

I have been living in Austin for 12 years, calling it my home. I am originally from Poland, a beautiful country in Central Europe. This particular background gives me a unique perspective which my clients find very helpful and refreshing. My personal journey has helped me identify and work with clients who are going through all kinds of life transitions and feelings of alienation regardless of the reason.

My full fee is $75 for a 45-50 minute session.
I offer sliding scale fees to clients who are committed to the psychotherapeutic process and who want to invest their time and energy but cannot afford my full fee at this time. I am an out-of-network provider for insurance companies, so please check your benefits to get more information on coverage. It may also be possible to utilize a flexible spending account to cover your counseling sessions please check with your provider for details. I welcome you to call or email me to set up a free 30 minute consultation in person.
