| Practice Description: |
Sometimes thoughts and feelings become a vicious cycle. When that happens, you may become depressed or anxious, or experience marital conflict, without knowing exactly what's wrong. I help individuals and couples find effective solutions to problems in their lives by helping them break this cycle and become more skillful with, and more accepting of, their emotions.
Do you often find yourself worrying instead of living "in the moment?" Do you analyze yourself or your feelings without getting anywhere? Do you procrastinate on tasks, ending up mad at yourself? Have "shoulds" and "shouldn'ts" taken over your thinking, blocking out more compassionate, more productive approaches? Are endless arguments hurting your marriage or relationship? Do you get confused about how to communicate what you need or feel? Would you like to communicate better with your child, or improve your skills as a parent? I have thousands of hours talking to people with concerns like yours, and helping them experience more joy and success in their lives.
I do not believe that there are any "one-size-fits-all" solutions, theories or techniques. Whether I am seeing you as an individual or as a couple, I will therefore seek to collaborate with you on an ongoing basis to clarify both your goals in therapy and our approach in treatment.
I find that psychotherapy is a lively, sometimes humorous and often exciting process. I love art, music and literature, and find it easy to share other peoples' interests. I study and practice insight meditation, and have experience helping clients apply these concepts to their own lives.
