We are are hard wired toward relationships. Various studies have shown that solid relationships are so tied in to our sense of well being, peace of mind, self-esteem and even physical health. Therefore, it also makes sense that when relationships that are important to us go badly that it can feel like your whole world just got turned up side down. A lot of couples end up feeling like their partner's behavior is absolutely intolerable and yet the idea of losing the relationship is just as painful. They just end up feeling frustrated, helpless and alone.
Maybe you come from a family that had emigrated from another country, or maybe you have chosen a lover from another culture and the differences lead to miscommunication. Sometimes there is a painful family secret of abuse. There are many reasons why family and relationship issues can be so complex.
You can learn skills for better communication and ways to better understand you partner and be understood by your partner. We could work towards rebuilding empathy and generosity towards each other as we problem solve the underlying issues within your relationship.
