Practice Description: I work with individuals, couples and families. Are you dealing with the stresses of everyday living or having trouble connecting emotionally with loved ones? I offer supportive help and insight as we work on new ways to feel heard and understood and loved. Maybe you're looking for help to address an infidelity, or a major decision in your life. I can offer help in strengthening existing relationships and also for attracting healthier new ones in the future. As a licensed professional counselor, I am an objective, caring, and empathetic listener. My office is easy to find, comfortable and pleasant with plenty of secluded off-street parking available. What clients tell me is confidential.

At the first visit, we will discuss the issues that bring you in for counseling. Then, we will talk about your history as it pertains to the problems and what you have tried in the past to better the situation. I want to know you.

I often treat people with relationship problems. I have experience with problems of adjustment, and bereavement. too. And I also treat people suffering with parental issues as well as caregiver burnout. In therapy, we address any symptoms of depression or anxiety/stress and feelings of isolation that very often are linked to these problems and ways to cope and feel better. If you are lonely or sad, or feeling unappreciated, misunderstood, disrespected or not truly cared about, there is hope. Left unattended, these feelings can sap your energy, make you feel irritable and stressed, and even cause physical problems, pains and headaches. You may very well know the toll it takes. If you see yourself dealing with these problems, find a counselor you can feel comfortable with, and make an appointment.

Counseling is about turning problems around- of learning and growing as a result of having suffered through them. It can be that first step out of misery, and into renewed energy, happiness and peace. My style is interactive and supportive and I relate to my clients with honesty and respect.

We will work on your issues, whatever you deem them to be. If you need marriage counseling, bring your spouse. If they refuse to come, then come alone. Positive change CAN happen without both spouses present, although having them come in together is generally preferable.

I have 20+ years of life experience in parenting and marriage as well as recent education with updated skills. I have 4 years experience working with people in crisis situations by phone and I also participate in crisis training.

People who seek counseling don't necessarily have any diagnosable mental illness or disorder. Problems often exist due to external forces such as death of a loved one or pet, maybe adjusting to a new situation, or changes in a relationship. Maybe communication and listening skills need sharpened. Some come to counseling because they don't have the nonjudgemental support system they need where they can air their grievances and grow. They might not want to burden their friends and family too much with an ongoing problem or crisis.

We are all unique individuals with our own tapestries of situations, life experiences, beliefs, and dreams. Counseling that is beneficial must be tailored to fit the individual clients' needs. I offer a free 20 minute phone consultation. If either of us feels that I am not the right person to fit your specific needs, then I will gladly offer you a referral to someone better suited. I am in a private practice. Generally you can be seen within 2-3 days after I receive your phone message.

In counseling you should be treated with respect at all times. My belief is that the most important factor in having a successful outcome to counseling is having a caring, trusting and authentic relationship between the therapist and the client.
