The most central idea in my approach is that somewhere inside us we generally know many of the answers to our problems, although we may be cut off from this knowledge in a variety of ways. You have already demonstrated some knowledge of how to deal with your problem by seeking help. I believe our mutual job is to work together to put you in touch with the best ways of dealing effectively with your problem. In some cases, although we may know the answers to our problem, we have never been taught the skills to implement that knowledge. Part of my job is to use my expertise and education to teach those skills. For example, although someone may realize he or she has a problem with being misunderstood by others and works hard to be understood, the harder they try, the worse things get. Teaching more effective communication skills is one of the areas my expertise may prove useful.
