Practice Description: My theoretical orientation is primarily cognitive-behavioral. Cognitive-behavioral therapy focuses on how our thoughts and beliefs affect the way we feel and how we act. I believe strongly in the ability of people to change their lives in positive ways. I also believe that the first step in making change is accepting yourself and your feelings. Rather than judging yourself harshly and trying to deny or push away your feelings, that energy could be better used to believe in yourself and in your ability to improve your life. Ask yourself, “What would I advise my best friend to do in this situation?” and then realize that you need to be your own best friend. I also integrate concepts of positive psychology, which emphasizes mindfulness, well-being, and balance.

I work with people on a variety of issues such as improving communication, anxiety/stress management, and other life challenges and transitions. I have a special interest in bereavement and other types of grief and loss issues (serious illness, miscarriage, separation/divorce, relationship endings, pet loss, etc.).

I enjoy helping clients face challenges and build on strengths. Taking care of your emotional health can increase energy, enhance self-confidence, strengthen relationships, improve work performance, decrease stress, and restore a sense of balance to your life.

Please feel free to call or send an e-mail if you have a question, but given the limits of security on the internet, please do not send confidential information by e-mail. Also, note that if I am away from my office, my voice mail will indicate that. I check my e-mail regularly but do not always have access to it, so calling the office is often better for reaching me. I do not schedule appointments by e-mail; please call the office if you wish to discuss scheduling an appointment.

Insurance and Billing Instructions: Payment is due at the time of service by either check or cash; I do not file insurance. If you plan to use your insurance, I recommend that you check with your company ahead of time to determine their policy for reimbursing you. The key things to indicate to them when you call are that you are seeing an out-of-network provider and that it is for mental health services. Although I have chosen not to be a member of managed care panels, many companies provide some level of out-of-network provider benefits. The receipt I will give you will contain the information you would need to file for reimbursement if you decide to do so.
Office Hours: by appointment
Driving Directions: My office is located at 319 S. Sharon Amity Rd. between Randolph Rd. and Providence Rd., across the street from Cotswold Village Shops and next door to the NCBT Bank. I am in Suite 120, to the left of the elevator on the first floor.
