| Practice Description: |
“I am an experienced and mature therapist that values client privacy, confidentiality and respect. I attempt to be non-judgemental and prefer a more interactive, intellectual & therapeutic environment. I value honesty and integrity and ultimately encourage clients to expand their personal vision and awareness. I make suggestions, but don't tell people what to do. I place significant emphasis on the client's ability to make their own decisions, and take responsibility for them. I make referrals for medication when appropriate and encourage assigned readings. I will suggest psychological testing when necessary.
I have been trained both as a COGNITIVE-BEHAVIORAL and GESTALT THERAPIST. Both orientations place emphasis on "quality of communication." As a therapist I often "challenge" assumptions, that for many clients have ultimately limited them from expanding their awareness and enjoying their life more fully.
I am both a Licensed Psychologist and artist (MFA/ University of Iowa) and place emphasis upon intuition and creativity. I consider myself less traditional in both areas. I encourage clients to be open and honest. I do conduct sessions by telephone for clients out of state.”
