Are you tired of having the same old arguments with no solutions? Do you feel distant from your husband, wife, partner, children, or friends? Do you harbor resentments and find it is hard to feel real affections? Have you lost the warmth and comfort you remember from early in your marriage or in close relationships? Or have you never felt it?
These are often very painful, but common complaints in life that often bring people into therapy. Individual, couples therapy or family counseling can be a useful manner in which to address these issues. My belief is that in a safe and productive environment, these concerns can be explored without falling into the old traps that keep us stuck. I firmly believe that it is possible to effect real change in people’s lives and relationships.
I have worked with individuals, families, and couples as a Connecticut State Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Marriage and Family Therapist, and Diplomate in Clinical Social Work, for over 35 years. It is always rewarding to see the results which can be achieved when there is a commitment to the therapeutic process. I find when my clients and I work collaboratively in a context of openness, trust, and mutual respect, amazing changes can occur.
After an initial assessment, during which time I will learn about you, your family, and the concerns you may have, we will decide together what kind of help you most prefer, and I will outline appropriate treatment options. We’ll work together on a plan for you that suits your timetable and wallet. My belief is that the entire process is a collaborative one, and I am frequently asking for your feedback and experiences.
People ask what is my specialty. I tell them, even though I love to work with couples, every issue and problem presents a unique puzzle to understand. This is what keeps me excited about my work every day. Also after more than 35 years of practice, in a variety of settings, I feel confidence in my ability to be of help.
