Profession: Psychologist
Services: Psychotherapy/Counseling
Practice Description: I have been in private practice for more than twenty-five years and consider myself a generalist because the issues my clients experience cover many themes: relationship struggles--with partners, parents, children, or friends; parenting issues; work issues; health issues such as clients dealing with their own cancer or that of a loved one; issues of gender identity, body image, self-esteem, betrayal, and loss. I have worked extensively with depression, anxiety, anger, social phobia, and obsessive compulsive behaviors. I see all of these, not just as signals of human pain, but as opportunities for a person to grow.

My therapy reflects respect for the ways that our past experiences have influenced our current feelings--a psychodynamic approach--and weaves in the need for self responsibility for life now. In addition, I use relaxation and imagery in the healing process. I utilize the best from various approaches for I recognize that we humans do not fit well into a mold.

I have supervised the work of psychology interns and mental health workers for twenty-five years and for many years my clients have included therapists themselves. A sense of humility and deep respect permeate my work with every client. I see therapy as an opportunity to work together for a healthier life.
