| Practice Description: |
You can feel better!! I like to see my clients get better and I am committed to helping ease the emotional/mental pain you may be feeling. No matter how much you are suffering, we can work together to lessen your pain and increase your sense of happiness and satisfaction in your life. Good psychotherapy is LIFE CHANGING in positive and lasting ways. You may be suffering needlessly and alone, hiding your pain and pushing yourself to meet the expectations of others (and yourself!) that are created in our modern, fast-paced culture. I invite you to have a therapy experience where you can truly be yourself in a non-judgmental atmosphere of safety and trust.
Studies have shown that a good match between client and therapist far outweighs the type of therapy that you choose in predicting a successful course of treatment. I have a high level of commitment to my clients and my aim is to provide an atmosphere of acceptance, warmth and emotional safety. Together, we will work toward an understanding of your unique experience and the life issues and emotional pain that bring you to seek therapy. I will work with you to design a treatment plan based on your particular needs, strengths and sensitivities. I will help you to understand the ways that your childhood/family history may be affecting you in your current life, showing up in dysfunctional relationship patterns, poor self-care, substance abuse, poor physical health, depression, anxiety or low self-esteem. This may involve grieving the past and I will support you along the way. I will help you to learn healthier coping strategies and to make choices that empower you to create a happier life.
I specialize in working with adult individuals or couples who are struggling with issues of depression, anxiety, trauma and relationship problems. I have been able to help many clients to gain a higher level of happiness and mental health. I was a kindergarten teacher for many years and I believe that this experience prepared me for being a therapist who is empathic, non-judgmental, warm and hopeful. I often use humor and a playful attitude with my clients and I genuinely like everyone with whom I work. I consider my work a sacred responsibility and am consistent and supportive in my care of my clients.
Therapy requires a significant commitment from both parties and I will educate you about the importance of this factor when we have our intake session. The process works best when both people are motivated, with a high level of engagement. I believe that this transformative process is very much worth the investment of self, time and money and can provide a return that will serve you for the rest of your life.
