Practice Description: “My husband has a gambling addiction that has caused us great financial difficulty...”, "I came home unexpectantly and he was viewing porn on the Internet...", “My Boyfriend and I both do drugs...”, “...my girl would rather do drugs than be with me”, “...he is seriously addicted to pornography”, "She promised she would stop drinking...", "I remember my father was always drunk...", "I came home and he was dead on the floor with an empty bottle next to her..."

My practice focuses on the multi-faceted destruction caused by addiction on relationships -- relationships with self, parents, partners, children... I see individuals, families and couples in my office most evenings and Saturdays.

Addiction is a complex, painful disease that effects the whole person. It disrupts a person's physical, psychological, interpersonal, emotional and spiritual life.

Masquerading as a survival tool, addiction wears many masks: drug addiction, alcoholism, gambling, Internet addiction, sex addiction, eating disorders, cutting and many more. My practice focuses on stopping the addiction and repairing the destruction caused by addictions on relationships. Using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Attachment Theory and the principles of the 12 Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous, I can help clients to repair, build and maintain healthy relationships with oneself, with family members, with co-workers, with significant others and with peers.

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist practicing in the San Fernando Valley area of Los Angeles, California. I am certified in the treatment of addictions, domestic violence and trauma. I have been helping addicts, alcoholics and their loved ones for many years.

I graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Magna Cum Laude in 1975, earned a Master’s Degree in Public Health from California State University, Northridge and a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University, Los Angeles. I also work with emotionally and behaviorally challenged adolescents and their family members in a small private school setting.

I am member of CAMFT (California Assoc. of Marriage and Family Therapists), AAMFT (American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists), CAADE (California Assoc. of Alcohol and Drug Educators), AYARN (Adolescent and Young Adult Addiction Resource Network) and WAAT (Women’s Association of Addiction Therapists) and APT (Association for Play Therapists).
