Practice Description: I have worked as a Licensed Professional Counselor since 1996, working with children, individuals, and families. I received specialized training working with children and doing play therapy and in marriage and family counseling. I have worked in a number of agency settings and began seeing clients in private practice in July of 1996. I had a small private practice while working as a full time counselor at an agency until July of 1998 when I began solely working in private practice. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas (license #14915) and North Carolina (license #4290).

Your purpose in seeking counseling will help us to cooperatively set goals and direction for you in your personal growth. I use a holistic approach which takes into account biological, psychological, social, and spiritual dimensions. I believe that individuals have a natural tendency towards growth and that change is possible. The goals of counseling are individualized to each specific person and may change throughout the process. I believe by better understanding self we are able to understand personal beliefs and how they impact our lives. In addition, gaining self-awareness provides insight into patterns that may create difficulties in relationships and work. The impact of our own family of origin and the patterns we learn teach us how to be in the world. Sometimes that which we learned in our own family can present difficulties in our present lives. By gaining an understanding of one’s self and these patterns, I believe we are better able to make new choices and be more in control of our lives. I believe that counseling is a cooperative relationship between counselor and client. Therefore, I will encourage you to set the direction of our sessions as you share your thoughts, ideas, feelings, and concerns about yourself and your relationships. I strive to establish and maintain a therapeutic relationship that is based on acceptance, respect, trust, and encouragement.
