| Practice Description: |
You are warmly invited to experience a calming and trusting therapeutic environment supporting your efforts in discovering life meaning, purpose, and direction as you cultivate confidence, embrace reassurance, and establish hope.
I specialize in helping individuals who are struggling with severe and persistent mental illness such as major depression and mood disorders, bipolar affective disorder, schizophrenia and psychiatric disorders. The majority of my clients are dealing with life transitions and issues related to self-esteem, sobriety management, relational conflict, anxiety and panic, depression and moodiness, anger, sexual abuse/incest/sadistic forms of abuse, and dissociative disorders. Many clients are learning to cope with gender identify issues, reorienting life following lengthy incarceration and prostitution, and learning how to thrive following trauma including divorce. A number of clients have experienced the theatre of war.
I work with individuals from diverse socio-sexual-politico-religio-economic backgrounds. I offer individual, group, and family therapy. I utilize a variety of strategies known as Evidenced-Based Practices (EBP) shown in research trials and case studies to be effective in helping clients.

For nearly 30 years I have been passionate about creating environments designed to support the unique readiness and receptiveness an individual has towards learning. Changing. Transitioning. Whether teaching, consulting, or counseling, I, too, have had to change and learn and transition. You will not be alone. Please give me a call, email, or visit my website.
Let's get started. -- Ruth |
