| Practice Description: |
Times of change can be very difficult, whether it is a divorce, a death, a move, illness, or other life adjustments. Many people try to get through these events alone and find it overwhelming. This stress can lead to depression, anxiety, anger and unhealthy coping patterns (i.e. drinking). Therapy is a healthy way to navigate through times of adjustment. A good therapist listens, and also helps identify and break unhealthy patterns by replacing them with positive coping skills. These new strategies can empower a person by allowing them to deal with life's struggles with more control and purpose.
I have a direct, yet gentle, practical, and solution-focused approach for dealing with life's stresses. My goal is to listen and also teach new skills and ways of thinking. I practice a holistic approach while looking at all aspects of a client's life. My background in art and education have created a strong foundation for working with children and adolescents. In addition, I incorporate art and journaling to enhance a client's therapeutic process.
I have had over 11 years experience working with multicultural individuals, both in the United States and abroad. This experience has formed me into a person who is open and accepting of differences, and able to see the world from many perspectives.
