| Practice Description: |
I use a systemic approach to therapy. Our problems are not isolated within us as much as they are the result of the complex psychological and social system in which we live. I use approaches that deal with outdated dysfunctional patterns in relationships, family of origin issues and communication issues that lead to frustration, depression, anger, anxiety, low self esteem, and generally interfere with our ability to have the fulfilling relationships and happiness we want.I tend to work collaboratively to identify and resolve out of consciousness dysfunctional belief systems that interfere with mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual well being.
With children, I use collaborative problem solving, sand tray, and play therapy. Collaborative problem solving therapy works to help parents work with explosive/angry children. Sand Tray and play therapy help children metaphorically work out their anger, fears, and frustrations through their play. While I work with a variety of children's issues, I specialize in working with children who have experienced trauma and/or have explosive anger issues.
I work with families of newly diagnosed MS patients. Living successfully with chronic disease is a 'family affair', meaning that everyone in the family, not just the patient, lives with MS. I work with families through the adjustment period following diagnosis and provide support for each family member as well as the family as a whole.

I also provide weekly group therapy for those who are qualified to join an existing group of clients who are working on a wide range of issues in the group setting. I work with a co-therapist. Clients get the benefit of working with two therapists and receive support and feedback from other group members. Clients interested in group work individually for 3 weeks to three months before entering group. |
