| Practice Description: |
Kathleen Costello Bar-Tur, LCSW, FIPA is a Psychoanalyst, Divorce Specialist and the current Director of the Clinical Center at the Institute of Psychoanalytic Training and Research. She works with both individuals and couples and specializes in divorce and the emotional problems it entails. By integrating her expertise in psychoanalysis and psychotherapy with her training in divorce and mediation, Kathleen has developed her own sensitive style to help her clients manage the emotional and legal difficulties that come with divorce or separation. Kathleen first became interested in working with men and women suffering from broken relationships eight years ago while running support groups for newly separated or divorced men and women for the Jewish Board of Children and Family Services and the Jewish Community Center. Witnessing the difficulties these men and women faced, Kathleen became determined to understand the needs of this population better. Since then she went on to become a trained mediator with the Center for Mediation in Law, The NY Center for Mediation and Training, the Ackerman Institute and the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals. She continues to attend seminars and conferences on divorce and mediation. New York Association of Collaborative Professionals, The Center for Mediation in Law. Post Graduate Training: International Academy of Collaborative Professionals: Interdisciplinary, Collaborative Divorce Coach Training; The Center for Mediation in Law: Mediation Training and Advanced Mediation Seminar; Ackerman Institute for Family Therapy: Advanced Mediation Training.
