Psychotherapy/Counseling Art Therapy

| Practice Description: |
Art therapy and counseling can take many different forms, depending on the therapist, the client, and the relationship they build with one another. People go to counseling for a variety of reasons. Sometimes people are looking for insight and new awareness about what is happening in their lives, they want to change their situation, or sort through a difficult decision.
I am a child, couple, and family therapist and art therapist with experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and families. I have assisted clients in working with experiences of sexual abuse, anger, anxiety, depression, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Bipolar, ADHD, relationship challenges, self-injury, and life transitions. I work from a culturally aware, systemic, holistic approach, taking into account physical, psychological, environmental, and emotional health.
Art therapy may be integrated into counseling as a nonverbal alternative or addition to the process. The goals that will serve as the backbone of the counseling experience may include stress reduction, problem solving, and increased communication skills. Art therapy isn’t about what you make, but what happens as you experience the process, and how you may begin to see things differently.
In my private practice I utilize an eclectic blend of theoretical frameworks and techniques to achieve client goals including cognitive-behavioral, solution-focused, client-centered, and gestalt. I offer a free consultation to give you the chance to get to know me and decide if this is the right fit for you.
