| Practice Description: |
I believe successful psychotherapy means healing happens at the levels of body, mind, emotions, and spirit. My holistic philosophy, when translated into the language of neuroscience, means growth and integration of neural networks in your brain.
It is my job to facilitate this process for you. I do this by creating an emotionally safe environment for you, listening deeply to you and your hopes, desires, fears, and needs, helping you experience a trusting and safe relationship, and utilizing a therapeutic approach that will best help you to achieve your goals.
The therapies I use are primarily newer psychological approaches based on neuroscience and designed to change the way your brain processes information. All will involve alternating moderate levels of emotional arousal with periods of calm and safety and integrating conceptual awareness and knowledge of yourself with emotional and body experience. We may often "target" memories from the past to heal the present and visualize a positive future.
In therapy, I hope you will achieve greater levels of individuation, or growing into your full potential as a human being. I also hope you will develop: (1) a sense of empowerment (2) a full range of interpersonal and life skills (3) a balance of independence and dependence (interdependence) in relationships (4) a change in your presenting symptoms (5) an improved sense of emotional health and well- being (6) an expanded consciousness of and compassion for yourself and others.
