| Practice Description: |
At Jana Briggs Counseling, I work with individuals, couples and families who are experiencing difficulty resolving problems, making decisions when conflicting objectives are issues, and seeking ways to reduce the stresses encountered in daily life. I am trained in individual, marriage and family therapies; child and adolescent behavioral therapy; play therapy; and crisis response. My goal is to guide and assist people desiring to help themselves using person-centered, cognitive-behavioral and brief solution-focused therapies with a collaborative, coaching style. I view the counseling relationship as a partnership, and in general, see my role as: assisting people in understanding the patterns that exist in their lives; helping them recognize and use their strengths, encouraging individuals to take responsibility for their feelings, thoughts, and behaviors; and helping them make sensible decisions about their lives/situations and learn how to implement those decisions. I have seen and experienced the benefits of counseling; worked with children, youth, and families for the last fifteen years; and I have a special interest in helping couples and parents strengthen their relationship, marriage, parenting and communication skills.
