Are you dissatisfied with your current relationship, confused about 'what went wrong' in a recent relationship, or feel you have been single for 'too long'? Do you tend to worry a lot, or feel depressed frequently or have problems with self-esteem? My therapeutic approach is based on the premise that our current difficulties stem from past experiences and/or past missteps that have not been properly addressed. The purpose of therapy is to address the issues that have held you back and learn to make choices that can bring about positive, enduring changes.
In therapy, we will take a close look at your concerns, figure out what went wrong, and strive to recognize your role in situations that have caused you grief. We will seek to understand how past experiences may still interfere with the present and identify behaviors that have led to undesirable outcome.
In my work with couples, I have found that intimate partners sometimes reach a point where the resentment they feel towards one another overshadows their love for each other. The purpose of couple counseling is to reverse this process and allow the warmth of the relationship to re-emerge.
