| Practice Description: |
I became a clinical psychologist because I believe deeply in the reparative power of human relationships. In a number of senses, we become who we are through our interactions with others, and these patterns form the basis of how secure we feel with ourselves and others. I see the therapeutic relationship as a natural vehicle for healing relationship wounds and breaking repetitive self-injurious patterns that dovetail with interpersonal struggles. I invite clients to join me in a collaborative effort to observe and more deeply understand themselves, their relationship patterns, and their characteristic ways of thinking and feeling.
It is so often through this process of exploration while feeling known, heard, and validated in the therapy relationship that clients experience relief from the emotional distress that initially brought them into therapy, and develop a more open-ended sense of what is possible in their lives.
I am a graduate of Duke University and earned my Ph.D from Northwestern University. I have extensive experience in addressing a wide range of mental health concerns, and I specialize in the treatment of mood and anxiety disorders, eating disorders, and LGBT concerns.
